a mind-boggling chapter of a student nurse

Assessment. Diagnosis. Planning. Implementation. Evaluation.

These are the systematic steps in coming up with an effective and efficient nursing care to an individual. Nurses are ought to lend a helping hand and render every service they can provide to somebody who are in need with their assistance. And student nurse as I am is indeed compelled to do such.

For the past four (4) sessions of community exposure at Barangay Exodus 8-A, we played the role of a community health nurses. We immersed ourselves with the community, assess and collate pertinent data, and then try to organize them through motivation of one’s self to be a responsive individual and society. After which, we were about to study the widespread problem thus coming up with a case presentation.

Formulating a case study based on the heaped information is undeniably not that easy. Encode those data, devise a concrete analysis, then relate it to Department of Health (DOH) programs, are just some of the sundry errands it necessitates as we gone through it. I, as a leader, had the most work in terms of proofreading the manuscript and other minute responsibilities, winding me up to have sleepless nights. More so, it’s mind-boggling/thought-provoking since thorough discussions and ultimate preparations were also required, yielding us bold eye bags and empty stomachs.

March 06, 2009 – a day which we all been trying to chuck out. It’s CP (Case Presentation) day! We were going to expound and struggle to defend our case. We don’t have any idea on how are we going to showcase our presentation. We thought of the most chaotic chapter of our nursing lives, a disturbia. But all our speculations turned gray for it proceeded the other way around. This case presentation flowed smoothly we never imagined. After all, exhausted as perceived but we were still able to persevere and ended the day with a sign of success in our very tired eyes. Revived. Restored. Relieved.
